George Apergis aka EMEX is one of the pioneers of the Greek Electronic Music Scene and owner of Modular Expansion. He has cultural activities under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Athens and in collaboration with the National Opera and the Archaeological Service. He is also a holder of the European Design Award in the category Music & Films Covers.
George Apergis is an accomplished artist, DJ and event promoter, with a long career in Athens and Berlin, playing DJ sets with vinyl only and has performed in many European cities and famous places such as
Berghain, Tresor, Renate, Suicide, Sisyphos, the legendary Clubs of Berlin, also in cities such as London, Rome, Barcelona, Lucerne, Sofia, Warsaw, Moscow, Tel Aviv.
His releases "Quelle", "Ekhowax", "Waxtrax", "Retrograde" and "Triton" on Modular Expansion were very successful. In addition he released on labels such as Bellboy, unGleich, Omega Audio, Audio Therapy, Sabotage, Paranoid Dancer, In fact and Made of Concrete together with Alexander Kowalski.
In 2014 he created the EMEX project with Alex Retsis for a series of live performances until 2016. In 2015 EMEX released "00110001" with the support of KORG Synthesizers followed by several releases on labels such as Modular Expansion, Etruria Beat, Credo, Denude, SYXT, Demarcation and Konsequent and the releases "Hyperion" and "Cluster of Time" with studio416. "Hi'iaka" was released in 2022 and "Touch Infinity" in 2023 and both were released along with an artist video with the support of the Ministry of Culture. In 2024 the duo reunited with the live performance at the Phygital Audiovisual Show at the Rio Castle for the Ministry of Culture and simultaneously released the Phygital EP on Modular Expansion.
His music has been covered by artists such as Truncate, Zadig, Johannes Volk, NX1, Lee Holman, Brian Sanhaji, Subjected, Radial, Alexander Kowalski, SLV, Progression, Axel Karakasis, Birth of Frequency and Developer. His music has the support of world-class artists such as Chris Liebing, Marcel Dettmann, Luke Slater, Tommy Four Seven, DVS1, Rødhåd, Nina Kraviz, Ellen Allien, Jonas Kopp, Bas Mooy, Ilario Alicante, Slam, Dax J, SNTS.
