‘First I dance, then I breathe’
My name is Alexandra Kourmetza and I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in Larissa and now live in Athens. My relationship with dance began at the age of 5. I started with ballet, which I did for 11 years, and since then I have tried contemporary, hip hop, high heels and oriental dance. At the age of 13, I started pole dancing as an amateur, and it stole my heart. I then tried different aerial acrobatics such as Aerial Hoop and Aerial Silks.
In 2020, I started teaching pole dancing at a dance school in Larissa and stopped when I decided to move to Athens in the summer of 2024.
In January 2024, I participated in a national competition in England (IPAAT UK) where I won first place in my category.
I am now at various pole dancing schools in Athens, where I teach and, of course, train regularly myself, as progress never stops.
Dance became my refuge, my light in difficult times, the dream I refused to give up. Through dance, I learned to express myself and be myself. An old childhood vow of mine, to never give up on my dreams.
My goal is to convey the art of pole dancing to as many people as possible with love and respect. My love for it is endless, and I still have a lot to give.
Because through dance, I become what I always dreamed of being.
