My name is Giorgos Spanoudakis and I am a photographer and musician. I studied classical guitar at the National Conservatory and I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the American College of Greece, specializing in Music (electric guitar, composition, choir, etc.) and Visual Arts (photography, video, editing, directing). I love both of these fields (music and photography) very much, but professionally I have been involved in photography for several years now, which I have given priority to. I specialize in all kinds of portrait photography and videography, and I have considerable experience in photographing and videographing all kinds of events (visual arts, theater, dance, music, etc.). In addition, I write articles for one of the largest photography websites in Greece, covering topics such as photographic equipment, events, news, and anything else related to the world of photography and video (directly or indirectly). I also love landscape and night photography (including astrophotography). Unfortunately, mainly due to time constraints, I don't have the luxury of traveling often to places with low light pollution for suitable night photography (especially for astrophotography, I have to travel quite far from Athens, where I live, which has enormous light pollution).
But what I love most of all is creating my own photographic concepts, through which I often express my own thoughts, concerns, and artistic sensibilities. In this process, I love working with people who have the same or similar desires or needs. What are they? To realize the ideas that come to mind, to direct them and express them through photography and editing. Often the result is dark, surreal, or depicts science fiction scenarios, perhaps because I need to escape from a reality that in recent years has included crises (economic or social), wars, political scandals, and various other problems on a social or personal level. I would say that photography as an expression makes me feel alive, creative, and free. Unfortunately, the world of photography also has a lot of toxicity, negativity, and difficult situations in terms of competition, the nature of the work itself, etc. However, no matter how much these situations have disappointed me, I have chosen to be kind, honest, and to evolve by avoiding ugly or toxic behavior, while constantly striving to become better, learn from my mistakes, and never stop creating.
