After a serious vote on this issue, Alexis Damianos' "Evdokia" has been established as the best Greek film. Although I believe that competitions, voting etc., do not offer or take away anything from the value of a film since cinema and the arts are not sports, I will disagree with this vote. The most important Greek film in my opinion is "The Shepherds" by Nikos Papatakis. Rarely has anyone heard of this film and it is no wonder, since the Greek viewer recognizes his bad self when watching it...Made by a filmmaker who studied and worked mainly in France,so one understands why this man chose to cultivate his talent outside of his own country...
