I am Maria-Eleni Thalassinou, artist, educator and activist.
Through my work I combine art with the struggle for social justice.
As a painter, I have held important exhibitions, which have attracted the interest of the art community. My themes focus on issues of freedom, equality and human rights, revealing my deep concern for the social situation and the need for change. However, my art is not limited to exhibition spaces. I have painted murals in the city and in schools, bringing colour and inspiration to students and the educational environment. Through these works, walls are transformed into canvases that encourage creativity and collaboration, bringing learning spaces to life and fostering empathy and thinking in young people.
Alongside painting, I am involved in poetry, with publications in literary magazines such as Mandrake. In poetry, I deal with themes of personal and social quest.
I believe that art can be a powerful tool for social change and I make sure to use my work to support these causes. Each of my works is not only an aesthetic statement, it is a search for self and an act of resistance.
In the context of my educational activities, I teach visual arts in a school, helping students to discover their own creative potential and cultivate their critical thinking. In this way, I not only impart painting techniques, but encourage my students to develop into socially conscious and aware people.
