I am Maria Zissopoulou and I was born in Larissa. I live and work in Thessaloniki.
I started painting lessons at the Municipal Gallery of Larissa at the age of 8 until I was 18. I followed decoration classes at Polytechno and worked as a decorator for 6 years. In 2010 I went to the School of Fine Arts in Thessaloniki and studied painting in the 2nd workshop with Kyriakos Mortarakos and Dimitris Zouroudes.
To date I have presented 6 solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and I have participated in several group exhibitions, workshops, festivals, symposia in Greece and abroad.
I create and express myself through various media, painting, photography, installations and in recent years I have been working in the field of performance.
Through my work I explore the dimension of intuition and instinct, highlighting the hidden connections between the inner and outer world. I focus on the tension between chance and control in mental synthesis, highlighting hidden connections between the internal and external environment. For me, art is a means of recognizing myself and understanding the world. My work is purely experiential, discovering myself and expressing personal psyches.
