I am Anna Maria Louloudi, or maryann. I am 22, studying in the most beautiful city (Thessaloniki), and I write music.
In the beginning I called my involvement with music a hobby, now I dare to say that it is my life. I play, learn, listen, write, improvise, repeat and imitate. I love discovering new tracks from underrated artists. I listen to the same ones for months until I discover new ones.
I haven't played live in a while. I have a little issue with the exhibition. I prefer small stages, if I'm going to be exposed I want to be next to my audience. Acoustic live shows are my favorite.
I feel that the magic (if not all of it, much of it) is in the pauses and the breaths. Like something is more alive when you give it the space to stop and start again, to breathe. I'm a very emotional person and my recording process was very, very intense. Every track on this album has a piece of my little soul on it.
And I'm very happy to share it. It's something honest and real, it's moments of my life that fit into notes and words. We didn't use a metronome, the recording of guitar and voice was done simultaneously, we left in "mistakes". It's alive.
maryann - out of the blue
Sometimes it's easier for me to write a song about what's going on before I discuss it with someone, and other times I write something right after I share my thoughts.
I am very inspired by my friends.
One track on the album (kind eyes) is "theirs" as I like to say. I wrote it for all the people I had and have the honor to call that.
Two others (right after 5 am, lia song) are written after our conversations.
The rest (out of the blue, what if, a lovesong goodbye, same empty white, the last one i promise)... it doesn't take much to understand what it's about.
I believe that music always gets to where it needs to be heard. Whether that's to thousands of listeners around the world, or to one person living across the street. Just having these songs recorded, I feel accomplished.
