One was the show that was sold out for three years and everyone had something positive to say about it. I waited and looked forward for two whole years until I was able to see this unique spectacle myself. Finally that moment came, with a few bumps, but here I am, in front of the stage, longing for the last bell to ring.
Is it our age and its absurdities; is it blind justice; that made me want to see the show so badly? What I do know however was that it was played out in such a unique way ,Dario Fo's poignant and denunciatory universe, with live music and plenty of humour , defiantly lampooning the harsh reality that contains violence , stupidity, arbitrary power and political corruption. In short , today.
Apart from the dark comic satire, what caught your attention was the so much aptness and apocalypticism of the songs that were played, that I must admit that to this day, the lyrics still ring in my ears.
So the resume of the show was that Dario Fo manages to "expose" the murder of the "anarchist railway worker" Giuseppe Pinelli committed by the Italian police. In a satirical and ironic way he denounces the tragic event, denouncing the abuse of power and criticising the unaccountable power of the Italian justice system.
A story embodied by a jester-clown, who, wandering as a theatrical and musical performer, jumps across eras and centuries in order to perform his favourite story. That of the anarchist. A random event, as they would have us believe.
The lyrics speak for themselves, bringing to mind, real events.
And, where are you; if you get the chance, see the show with so many resounding messages for today, he did not hesitate , to speak loosely and honestly. It's time to stop turning a blind eye to the truth.
A random event
A night with stars
Where an anarchist was found
In the wrong cop's hands
And through the open window
He fell his monk
Because it drove him crazy
His other self
There is a death
A random murder
Which is repeated
In my eyes before my eyes
In the face of injustice
No one should be alone
People were not made
To live separately
But it is God's will
Whatever happens
Whatever holds us back
And what goes forward
Others called him Juan
Others call him Vangelis
Others called him Christ
And others call him Pinelli
