Penny Dreadful – Pilgrimage

...on the low with the ice cubes, pour some whiskey, that's enough. Then, lower the light. Prepare for a journey, far away, where Penny Dreadful will color your picture. And you can even see that you're in a car, even better without a roof. There's nothing else on the road, just desolate landscapes everywhere you look... dust and rust that never ends. You're in the deserts of Oceania if you want, or on the endless tarmac trails in Arizona. Desert rock, tightly bound with Greek vagrancy, is here. You will dance.

The band was formed in 2010 in Athens, but with their eyes on other continents. Americana and Australian alternative country, when grilled with post punk and garage spices, are served everywhere. And we all lick our fingers...

Their frontman, Yannis Kalifatidis, in his previous creations in Into The Abyss made us walk in gothic (even psychedelic...) streets. Here the energy is different, but the darkness everywhere remains the same, pure.

The guitars are more charged, dripping alcohol, the darkness is brighter. That's what dirty rock 'n' roll is all about.

Their latest achievement, "Pilgrimage", exists to take you to a faraway place, with strings ready to break and energy that won't stop until you arrive.

The band says they play rock 'n' roll because they can't live without it, they can't breathe.

Now put on more ice, close your eyes and take a sip, deep...
