It was in 2010 when a friend of mine first heard the album "Power in the Darkness" by Tom Robinson Band and suggested me to listen to it. I was young at the time and still searching for my way in music. So, I decided to give it a chance.
When I listened to the album for the first time, I felt that new worlds were opening up in front of me. The lyrics were charged with passion and political anxiety, with an air of subversion and unyielding truth. The songs became a refuge for me, a way to express my own concerns and views on the world.
One of the songs that stood out for me was "Power of the Darkness", with its impressive melody and passionate lyrics. The song highlights the anguish and distress we all feel when faced with the difficulties of life and society. The power of the dark side invites us to discover our strength and confidence to face challenges with determination and resistance.
Like the rest of the album, this song faced problems and reactions from various institutions and organizations. Its lyrics sparked debates and reactions in society, but at the same time the song became a symbol of resilience and strength for those seeking change and justice.
Two of my many good friends Marcos and Amanda one day in a park in their city. These two guys, though different in many ways, shared a common passion for music. Amanda had an old cassette of the album "Power in the Darkness" that her grandmother had given her, while Marcos had just discovered the band and the album through his friend.
As they listened to the songs together, their friendship grew stronger. The lyrics of "Power of the Darkness" gave them strength and confidence to face the challenges they faced in their personal lives and at school. Both of them decided to use the music and messages on the album to express their concerns and try to make the world around them a better place.
For me, this album was an awakening and a mirror of social reality. It made me think and question the world around me, and put me in a process of self-examination and scientific understanding. It was a guide for me, a tool to discover my voice and express my concerns about the world with vigor and confidence.
