This article is my 9463821 attempt to write a few things about myself.
Hi! I am Valia Altiparmäki, I am 20 years old and I am a student at the Theatre Department of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in the direction of Acting. My story certainly doesn't start with the well-known line " since I was a little girl it was my dream to become an actor", simply because it wasn't. And even though I was one of the children who obliged the whole family to attend the musical theatre performances my cousin and I prepared as entertainment after Sunday lunch.
Although I had very close contact with both music and dance from a very young age because of my family, I was introduced to theatre later through my school. I finished the Music School of Drama. There, apart from music, we came into contact with many other kinds of art. So because of the theatre courses and after many performances I started to have a special connection with this art.
But what made me decide that I wanted to do theatre professionally was the feeling I had every time I saw a performance. It seemed inconceivable to me that a performance could make you feel so much in such a short period of time and leave feeling full and maybe even happy. Imagine a group of people having the ability to make one or even many people together feel the way I feel when I watch theatre. And that's when I realized that I would definitely want to be one of those people.
And that's how we find ourselves in the present. In my practical effort to become one of them. Having participated in theatre performances through school, as well as various short and feature films, and trying to gather as much material and knowledge as I can, I aim to one day make someone feel about theatre what I felt about it.
