Promises

I will begin with introductions. My name is Alexandra, and I am a student in the Department of Theater at the School of Fine Arts in Thessaloniki, specializing in directing. In July, I had the pleasure of publishing my first poetry collection, entitled "Promises," by Glarolykoi Publications.
My relationship with the arts dates back to my childhood. Painting, music, theater, and poetry have always been ways for me to express myself and discover my personality. Music and painting became my favorite hobbies, I decided to study theater, and poetry eventually became a deeply personal desire.
The period of confinement was a great motivation to turn this desire into a necessity. As a teenager who wanted to rebel against social conditions, I began to express myself through poetry. The fear and uncertainty of that period were a source of inspiration for me—a rather painful process, I must admit. Gradually, I dared to submit poems to competitions and, to my great surprise, I won three awards. Since then, poetry has become part of my daily life. An integral part of my life, a powerful medium and, at the same time, a stable means of expression.
During the same period, news stories about femicide and abuse of women shook me deeply and enraged me. I felt the need to engage socially and artistically with female power and the position of women in society. The poems in the collection are dominated by the female figure, who claims her rightful place and becomes a symbol of revolution.
At the same time, another issue that has deeply preoccupied me since my adolescence remains love. I remember staying up late at night writing love poems, sometimes in forgotten notebooks, sometimes on receipts, and sometimes in school books.
Gradually, the number of poems sparked the idea of compiling them into a more formal format, a book. The publishing process went very smoothly, and from the very beginning I felt the support of my publishers, who embraced my work with enthusiasm.
The collection "Promises" is my first step into the world of poetry, and I eagerly await new works. This experience has shown me how important it is to believe in yourself and to have people around you who support you. For me, art is the most beautiful way to express yourself, to rebel, and to truly connect with people. A world full of art is a better world.
