Summer Melodies

It was the summer of 2005, a year after the release of the film “Ray,” and I was on holiday on a small Greek island, where time was moving at a more leisurely pace. The island was filled with jasmine-scented alleys, and the days were spent with endless walks on the beautiful beaches and endless laughs with friends. One evening, as I was walking near the harbor, I saw a poster for a movie screening “Ray” at the local summer cinema. As a big fan of Ray Charles' music and having heard rave reviews for Jamie Foxx's performance, I knew I couldn't pass up this opportunity. The idea of seeing the film under a starry summer sky, with the sea breeze gently blowing, filled me with anticipation.

As I arrived at the summer cinema, a garden filled with colourful flowers, I took a seat on the wooden chairs and waited for the film to start, feeling the excitement overwhelm me. When the screen lit up and the story of Ray Charles began to unfold, the magic of the music and Jamie Foxx's powerful performance captivated me. I felt like I had traveled to another time, to an America where the difficulties Ray faced failed to quell his immense talent and soul. As I listened to his music, I felt drawn into the passion and intensity of his life. His songs, full of emotion, resonated in my heart, and as the film reached its climax, there was silence all around me as all the viewers were immersed in the story. When the film ended and the lights came back on, I slowly rose from my seat with a sense of awe and emotion. That night at the summer movie theater with Ray Charles under the stars was one of those moments that remained deeply etched in my memory as a reminder of the power of art to unite and inspire us.
