"The lost poetry"

Perhaps poetry is the most indifferent kind of speech. Maybe it doesn't touch people's souls. But any such book can enchant you. For me, Cavafy was and is one of the most remarkable poets of modern times. In leafing through his books, I was left with one poem... "Candles" it was called. Is it possible that after 100 years or so it's indelible? Hasn't the whole essence of poetry been lost after all? Unanswered questions, like the ones you get when you read it.

An event, a scene where there are candles, lit and extinguished. So simple. The lit ones to define the future of man and the latter to represent the past. How important is life then? How quickly does it pass? We must not look at our past, or at least not let it define us. Hope and optimism are elements that must prevail if we are to create the ideal future we dream of. The bitterness of days gone by, which once was the present and future of the present, is the same sadness that everyone experiences as they grow older. What if we always stayed children? How much could we have lived? His reminder that life doesn't last forever is a trademark. Every day I reflect on how much I can accomplish and how much I can enjoy, despite the limitations and disappointments. How beautiful the human condition! How important time and its impermanence. After all, what is poetry? It is not just a frivolous indulgence, but a necessity for humanity. It captures the essence of our existence, provokes reflection, cultivates empathy and preserves our collective memory. In a world that is often altered, it reminds us of the artistic expression we all have within us. Comfort, understanding and inspiration emerge, affirming the timeless truth that words, when crafted with care, can ignite the human spirit and transform lives.
